Add-on drums are routinely manufactured upon request. In order to produce an add-on drum intended to tonally and visually match with an existing drum set, the customer is requested to provide the original order number and sizes of the existing drums, as well as a physical sample for color-matching purposes.
When the original order number and drum sizes are provided, the Custom Shop will make reasonable efforts to TimbreMatch™ add-ons to the existing set.
The provided physical color-match sample is used to assist DW in matching grain pattern, finish appearance, and underlying color as closely as possible and where applicable. Because wood is a natural material, variations in tone, grain, figure, and finish appearance may occur between various logs or pieces of the same species, even when the identical finish and process are applied.
For exotic wood drums, the same wood species may no longer be available. In such circumstances, any tonal or visual match will be performed on a best-efforts basis, and differences in wood tone, grain pattern, figure, color, and overall appearance should be expected.
In some circumstances, shipment of a drum to DW for physical evaluation may not be feasible, including for international customers due to customs requirements, shipping restrictions, cost, timing, or other logistical considerations. In these instances, the customer may provide a high-resolution photograph taken in natural daylight. Photographic submissions are subject to limitations, including but not limited to camera quality, image compression, lighting conditions, display calibration, and color reproduction variances. Accordingly, DW cannot guarantee color accuracy or an exact visual match when matching is based solely on a photographic likeness.
