Dialing in Your Hi-Hat: Calibrating the cymbal and pedal
Step 1: Why Optimize Your Hi-Hat
• The hi-hat is unique with various sounds and functions in drumming.
• The goal is to make it feel natural, like an acoustic hi-hat.
Step 2: Calibrating the Hi-Hat
Highlight the hi-hat in the left panel and remove your foot from the pedal.
- Under the "Selected Pad" window, find and click the "Calibrate Bow” button.

"SYNC" will flash on the hi-hat. Tap the bow of the cymbal and "SYNC" will disappear
- Under the "Selected Pad" window, find and click the "Calibrate Pedal" button.
- Open the hi-hat at least 2 inches (5 cm) so that it is fully open and tighten the clutch screw.
- Click NEXT
- Tap the hi-hat cymbal once to calibrate the open position
- Loosen the hi-hat clutch and allow the cymbal to drop as shown and re-tighten the clutch
- Click NEXT
- Tap the hi-hat cymbal once to calibrate the closed position
- The auto calibration begins, and after a few seconds will display Done!
